Making infused water beverages at home is so much more sustainable (no producing, bottling, and transporting beverages across the country), and they cost just pennies on the dollar compared to pricey bottled beverages—especially if you have lemon and lime trees and mint plants growing at home like I do.
Before you think that’s out of your reach, consider your growing season. If you live in a warmer climate with mild winters, growing citrus trees can be a cinch. The USDA indicates you can grow citrus in zones 9-11. And what’s even easier is growing herbs like mint in your garden, which can be done in nearly every growing region in the warmer months. You can even grow mint in a pot on your doorstep, balcony, or windowsill. This can really put healthy, plant-based beverages like this recipe for water with lime within your fingertips.
